Legal Aid is not simply means tested. The Scottish Legal Aid Board are required to have regard to a number of factors such as the complexity of a case in deciding whether to grant Legal Aid.
Our specialists will be in a position to advise clients during the initial consultation whether they should be eligible for Legal Aid. The first meeting is always free of charge.
In order to assess Legal Aid eligibility we require to see proof of income and capital which is why we would ask for any two of the following to be provided by a client at the first consultation:
- Recent Wage Slips / Self-Employed Accounts
- Recent Benefits Award Letter
- Recent Bank Statements
